What does the Expire App do?

Tracking expiry dates on food items in your store can be difficult! The Expire app makes it really simple for home owners and store owners alike. Expire automates the logging and monitoring of stock expiry and can provide a weekly or daily notification of food stock that should be removed from shelves as they near or reach their expiry date.

Simply use the built-in barcode scanner to add popular food products from our existing extensive food product catalog, or create a new custom product.

After adding your products, searching for an existing product is as easy as scanning its barcode or searching its name or SKU.

A unique login and master pin for each device ensures secure additions and removals of stock from your catalog.

Why use Expire to track food expiry dates?

Food safety is a global concern and all possible measures should be taken to ensure responsible practice. Regulation R638 – “Regulations Governing General Hygiene Requirements for Food Premises, the Transport of Food and Related Matters” was published by the South African Department of Health; and replaces R962 of 2012. – Government Gazette 22 June 2018.

This regulation defines “food safety” as “the assurance that food will not cause harm to the consumer when it is prepared or eaten according to its intended use.” Also highlighted is the maintenance of a traceability system that would inform a recall procedure should the need arise.
